Magic Bites is the first book in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. And I love it. I first read this series in 2015 and it was great to revisit it 10 years later. Totally not intentional to be 10 years, but fun nonetheless.
I definitely picked up on more things this time around. Granted my memory has faded with time, but I definitely noticed new things. And events caught my attention in different ways. Probably because of society now vs 10 years ago.
Ilona Andrews is a husband and wife writing team who are incredible at capturing your attention and never letting go. I love the sassy female lead that they made in Kate. She is someone I would aspire to be if she was real and I met her in real life. Her sass , stubbornness, and belief in herself is phenomenal.
Diplomacy was never my strong suit and my patience had run dry. I crouched and called out, “Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.”
“What kind of a woman greets the Beast Lord with ‘here, kitty, kitty’?” he asked. “One of a kind.” I murmured the obvious reply.
Tiny glimpses of my thoughts of other characters:
Ghastek: I want to smack in the face
Curran: Love him
Jim: Really dude?
Derek: Ugh, teenagers
Dr. Crest: You kinda asked for it dude. You shouldn’t have been so shocked and surprised
Saiman: intrigued
